Tesoro Tiger Shark
On land, the Tiger Shark can be used for coin and relic hunting and even as a gold metal detector. By using the four controls on the outside, you can fine tune your detector to handle whatever conditions you are working in.
Working in the wet salt areas is where the Tiger Shark outshines the land detectors. In land conditions, the most crucial adjustment is using the ground balance to tune out mineralization. In wet salt conditions, changes in the conductivity in the sand cause most of the problems. The Tiger Shark uses a completely different set of internal settings in the SALT Mode than in the NORM Mode. There are no special controls or techniques to remember.
The Tiger Shark continues in the tradition of other great Tesoro underwater machines by having interchangeable coils available.

“If there is one thing wrong with the Tiger Shark is it is under priced for it’s performance. It is the only VLF that you can hange coils yourself as it has a connector. Will respond to gold chains, something other detectors find hard to do. Easy to pinpoint and deep too. Has a great Ground Balance control unlike the persets on a few other water machines. Very easy on battery usage.”
“I have been using my Tiger Shark for shallow water hunting (10′ or less) for some time now and I am really impressed. It ground balance very nicely and is very sensitive to small gold and silver targets. I have found numerous small gold and silver ear rings and also chains. However, your recovery scoop needs to have very small holes to recover these small targets. I lost quite a few before I solved this problem.
I have found gold rings deep enough that it took as many as 5 to 6 deep scoops (big 8″ Scoop) to get them in my scoop, leaving a hole in the bottom well over your ankles.
I have never had a water leakage problem and the white coil makes it easy to see in murkie waters.
As far as I am concerned, this is ONE Fine Detector for my type of underwater hunting……HH”
Tesoro Sand Shark
Sand Shark combines time-proven PI circuits with the latest digital technology creating the first microprocessor controlled PI detector for the new Millennium.
Pulse Induction (PI) detectors have always been the natural choice for working wet salt beaches. Their circuitry and single loop coils will not see changes in salt-water conductivity that drive a VLF-style detector crazy. Add Tesoro Electronics’ exclusive interchangeable Printed Spiral coils (available in four sizes) and you create a fantastic PI detector. But we didn’t stop there.
The Sand Shark has two distinct operating modes: VCO and Normal. When working in the VCO mode, as targets get closer to the coil, the threshold generates a louder, higher pitched tone great for pinpointing. The Normal mode works with a single tone and is used for beachcombing and other prolonged searches.
We’ve added a microprocessor to help you customize the detector to your specific needs. Our Pulse Width control allows you to tune your detector to the best balance of depth, sensitivity, and battery life. You can also change the Normal mode audio frequency. Simply use the “F” Adjust knob to set the tone and you’re ready to go. The Sand Shark also has a new drop-in battery compartment for quick and easy changes.

“I’ve owned a Surfmaster PI from Whites and I must say the Tesoro Sand Shark is the best metal detector yet its superior in every way.
I bought a PI detector because of the badly mineralized beaches in my neck of the woods. I tried using my buddy’s M6, which supposedly handles mineralization well, but I could not get a readable signal with it. I knew the only detector that would work would be a PI.
I bought a Surfmaster and had some success with it. I was finding coins at about the 3-4 inch range. I found one silver ring at about 5 inches once. However, I didn’t like the balance of it. I decided to try out the Sand Shark and it was the best decision I’ve made in a long time.
The Sand Shark is the first PI detector with microcircuit technology. No more “timing” the detector over the ground and missing target spots. The Sand Shark remains constant during the entire sweeping process. Best of all… it’s DEEP! I consistently find treasure at 8 inches and deeper. I found a gold ring at about 11 or 12 inches! No BS (I actually measured it.) In badly mineralized soil, this kind of depth is incredible.
The Lifetime warranty is also a BIG plus for the Sand Shark. The Surfmaster only had a 2 year warranty from Whites. Tesoro really stands by their products. I’m very happy with the Sand Shark. I couldn’t recommend it more if you are looking for a straight up beach hunter.
If you plan on doing a mix of land and beach hunting, check out the Tiger Shark. It gets good depth on the beach as well, but the Sand Shark outperforms it because it is more specialized.”
